A Jew who once passed the Rebbe during the regular Sunday morning distribution of dollars outside 770 told the Rebbe that he wanted to express his gratitude. He said, "The doctors said that I was about to die, and I had to undergo a serious operation. The Rebbe gave me a bracha, and I recovered completely. I therefore wanted to say thank you." The Rebbe replied, "You are alive in the merit of Hashem!" The other man answered, "That's true, but the Rebbe gave me a bracha!" In reply, the Rebbe just gave him a very big smile ?.
